SLAUGHTER your friends!
Single-player performance has been significantly improved.
Also... single-player is now worth distinguishing.
SLAUGHTER introduces splitscreen multiplayer co-op to the Nintendo Entertainment System. Though at present you're better-off introducing it to an overclocked emulator like Mesen. Multiplayer performance needs work.
This alpha also introduces item pickups from exploded enemies, and clearer feedback when enemies explode. Enemies now have a "pain chance," ripped off straight from Doom. They also could telegraph their attacks and movements, but I haven't drawn graphics for it yet, and it's occasionally just wrong, so it's not enabled in this build. Enemy infighting has been in the game since shockingly early-on, but is now less broken than ever before, and still doesn't quite work.
Diagonal tiles are now added in about half the places they should be.
Raycasting is completely overhauled, eliminating unintended gaps and certain texturing errors.
The actual game is not much different, but adding better levels won't require nearly as much dark magic.
